The Skinnythick Six: 6 Reasons to Recommit to a Journey to Better Health
A journey to better health is time consuming and can wear on your emotions. In order to succeed, you have to be willing to change things around and figure out how to recommit yourself in new ways to the same process…fewer calories consumed than used up in a typical day. This process requires you to focus on the three pillars of Skinnythick success:
Attitude;
Nutrition; and
Fitness
Here are SKINNYTHICKSIX on RECOMMITTMENT TO A JOURNEY TO BETTER HEALTH!
1. Track Your Nutrition!
Track all of your food intake. No matter what you eat, you’ll learn from it. Take the time to write everything down or input it into your nutritional tracking app on your smartphone.
2. Just Do It! Work in a Workout!
Even if you don’t think you are physically able to do a workout, take small steps to better health. Walk to the end of your driveway or to the corner. Move your body in just a small amount and you will find two things to be true: (1) it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be; and (2) you will feel a great sense of accomplishment. Overcoming your hesitation or fear in exercise will do a lot to boost your attitude about exercise and weight loss in general.
3. Mix Up the Menu!
Try a new approach to eating. Try a vegetarian meal or a vegan meal for change. Substitute mashed potatoes for a creamy cauliflower and garlic mash. Mix up your water and remember to hydrate. The change will get you back on the right track for caloric intake and might excite your taste buds to try something new!
4. Don’t Delay!
If you find yourself off track, recommit to get back on track NOW. Don’t wait until tomorrow, or Sunday to start the journey. You don’t have time to waste on this journey. Start now…those “last meal” special indulgences will always be there for you to explore…in moderation.
5. Phone a Friend!
Call a friend who can be your cheerleader and help you to get back on track! Your friend can keep you honest about your weight loss and hear your concerns about your journey. There is nothing like a friend to keep you accountable and to gently remind you of when you may not be totally honest with yourself as to some of the reasons why you cannot push through and get back on track!
6. Forgive, Visualize and Move On!
One of the biggest obstacles to getting back on track with a healthy lifestyle is when we fail to forgive ourselves for getting off track! So, one of the Skinnythick Six steps to recommitting to a healthy lifestyle is to forgive yourself for getting off track and visualize yourself on a successful journey. Once you have an image for success, implement it and move on! Staying in the same place will not help you to get back on track and giving up is an option which you cannot accept.
Remember, the way to get on track is to remember the pillars of Skinnythick – attitude, nutrition and fitness and tweak each pillar to get yourself on track!
