Dig In and Dig Deep
About this time, people begin to waiver on the weight loss/healthy lifestyle programs that they started at the beginning of the year. After a month, they lose interest, they lose momentum or they lose inspiration for the weight loss. This is the time that you need to kick it into the next gear and “double down” on your healthy life commitment.
Skinnythick is based upon three pillars of success. We aspire to change our poor lifestyle choices for a healthy lifestyle choice. A successful healthy lifestyle is based upon three pillars and if any of them get “off track” then your lifestyle choice becomes more difficult to achieve.
Attitude: Our attitude is the usual suspect when we get off track with our healthy lifestyle pledge. Our attitude is typically the first thing that takes us down. We may not see the results that we expect or we may get bored with the process and self-doubt creeps in to get us off track. What we need to do in response is to get our mindset in the right place. Revisit the purpose for our journey to better health. Why are we losing weight right now…are we physically in pain? Do we want to get better clothes, a job or to be able to do things with our family? Is life passing you by?
Nutrition: The nutrition component can get us off track when we indulge in unhealthy foods or take in too many calories. We get into a spiral of bad choices and the calories pile up and the weight piles on. We can “shake up” a nutrition spiral by trying something new. Perhaps go on a detox for three days to cleanse your system. Maybe try a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle for a week. Try a partial fast in which you have nutritious juices for two meals and a sensible dinner for the final meal. Shake up the nutrition so that you can recommit to a healthy meal plan process. Remember to record all of your meals. It is one way to hold yourself accountable for what you eat.
Fitness: This is the hardest pillar for a lot of us. Physical pain, embarrassment or plain laziness stops us from undertaking a physical fitness routine. But believe it or not, physical exercise is a key component to weight loss. Exercise helps us to burn calories and it helps the weigh to roll off. A fitness routine helps with digestion, waste elimination and with sleep. Physical fitness helps your body to wind-down for periods of rest.
The challenge for this time of the year is to recommit to our journey towards better health. Take a look at your attitude, nutrition and fitness for a place to start on a journey back on track to better health! Check out this week’s Skinnythick Six to discover six ways to recommit to a healthy lifestyle journey!
All the best!
